INTRODUCING SPARKIT

OUR GOAL

In the pursuit of affordable, high-quality education

1 in 5 children in Canada live in poverty. For these children living in low-income areas, schools are often severely underfunded. This is an issue because getting a good education is key when it comes to breaking the cycle of poverty. SparKit aims to fix this by providing schools with an affordable option to enrich their curriculum and give financially-disadvantaged children a chance to find their spark.

OUR Kits

Boxes of  endless possiblity

Every 2 months, participating schools will receive a bundle of boxes to be distributed across eligible classrooms. These boxes will contain recycled stationery and a hands-on STEAM activity specially curated by our team. These activities are designed with accessibility in mind. The contents will always be usable with minimal pre-existing resources. This means there is no need for technology get the full experience. The ultimate purpose of our kits is to provide kids with a chance to explore new concepts in a fun and unique way whilst simultaneously removing the high barrier of entry that is often associated with such activities.

our design challenge

Boxes of  endless possiblity

Lastly, students will create their own box! Each year, we will send a SparKit box without an instructional video. Instead, the goal is for students to create their own solution to a problem they see in their community. Students will create a basic prototype such as a simple stop-motion animation or something more complex, like a model of an electric mouse trap.  Competing with other schools in the province, or even the whole country, the students develop their entrepreneurship skills and knowledge.

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
